About Dave

Dave Erdman

Photographer

I've been a photographer since I was very young and always found enjoyment out of capturing good images. However, it's always been a hobby as my profession was much different.

At the ripe old age of 16, I wandered into the local volunteer fire department and never looked back (well almost never). I became a junior firefighter in August of 1979 and a senior firefighter in 1981. I graduated the Broward County Fire Academy 1984 and followed that up with EMT and Paramedic training.

I spent 27 years with Broward County Fire Rescue (AKA BSO Fire Rescue) and retired as a Captain in 2019. In addition to that I worked for several years as an ambulance dispatcher, dispatcher trainer, EMT, Paramedic and Training Supervisor before starting my career at BCFR.

AT BCFR I worked as a firefighter/paramedic, Lieutenant, Captain, Training Officer, Everglades Station Coordinator, Public Information Officer, Infection Control Officer and EMS Quality Manager.

Now happily retired, I spend most of my time either behind a lens or in front of the iMac editing photographs.

I shoot primarily with a Nikon D850 full frame DSLR and use a NIkon D750 as a back-up. I also own a Nikon D7100 and a D7200 crop format cameras. I still own the NIkon D100 and D200 even though I don't use them anymore.  I have a NIkon N90s 35mm film camera that I still use today and my first NIkon N4004 my girlfriend (now my wife) bought me in the 80's.

And most recently, I am a State of Florida Unarmed and Armed Security Officer. My son went through the classes so I went with him.
